Endless Abyss. I am staring out at it, and it stares right back at me. It knows what I’m considering, but it gives no response. It does not beckon, nor does it discourage. Like a cliff. Take one step in reverse could return you to reality. One step forwards, and you fade into nothingness. And the choice is really that isn’t it? We hang over the edge so often, Sometimes looking for help, Others as a joke… but sometimes.. just sometimes; We let go. I feel a pull to step out over it, but my feet are rooted in place. Should I step off, there is no telling what is beyond that abyss. There is no guarantee there is anything but darkness beyond all of this. But then again… maybe there doesn’t have to be. Maybe the quiet, maybe the silence will finally embrace me. Perhaps that is enough.
